The For the Love of Chocolate event, or more accurately, the gala in Chicago, IL started in 2006 and has grown every year! It is not just an event but truly an extravaganza. It is one night and one place that offers over 100 of Chicago’s best chefs, innovators and entertainers together to demonstrate their Love of Chocolate. You can experience amazing chocolates, desserts, music, dancing, entertainment, and all for a great cause. Yes, you can over indulge and write it off!!! You have the opportunity to graze through offering after offering…… from true decadent desserts, candies, ice creams and other savories offered all while enjoying the entertainment. The entertainment varies based on the theme of that year and the area of the gala from live music to DJs and more. There is something for everyone. They continue to out-do themselves year after year. From 2015 when you could experience Peace, Love, and British Rock to 2017 and an Evening of Mystery. What will next year bring??
All of this benefits the Foundation which provides scholarships for qualified students in the specialized training of the pastry arts. The Foundation awards scholarships to students in the full-time programs taught by The French Pastry School of Kennedy-King College. The For the Love of Chocolate Foundation promotes commitment in pastry arts education for individuals looking to change careers, as well as individuals who have shown potential in the culinary field but who have no formal pastry education. A list of the past recipients can be found at this link: http://www.ftloc.org/recipients They have raised over $500,000 to date in scholarships.
Again, an event that is the best of both worlds….. You can experience so many decadent treats…. pop cakes, truffles, tarts, cupcakes, macaroons, and the list goes on and on, while having the opportunity to donate and enhance the goals of others that want to explore a career in the pastry arts.
And for those of us that love chocolate, it is the opportunity to sample some of the best pastry chefs the city of Chicago offers for desserts. Make this one of your next adventures in chocolate….. mark your calendars today - it is always in February but the weekend varies. (http://www.fortheloveofchocolatefoundation.org)
